

Thomas DeWitt Sanders was born November 15, 1931 in Damascus, Georgia. He lived in various parts of Georgia and was a longtime resident of Pascagoula, MS. He passed away on Friday, September 2, 2016. He was the son of A.A. Sanders and Elsie Mae Sanders and step-son of Eloise Sanders.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Delphia Sanders; brothers, Daniel W. Sanders and Tony Sanders; and sister, Madge Miller.
He is survived by his children, Michael (Edee) Sanders, Phillip Sanders (Linda Dunsmore) and Kelly (Billy) Knapp. He was a loving PaPaw to his grandchildren, Thomas (Meredith) Sanders, Jacob (Tina_ Sanders, Joshua (Cassie) Sanders, Ashley Sanders, Trevor Saucier, Salena Sanders and Austin Knapp and Bailey Knapp; great-grandsons, Cole, Will, Clay and Liam Sanders; a brother James (Gay) Sanders; two sisters, Melanie Meier Johnson and Karen Peters; nieces and nephews as well as other relatives and friends.
Thomas Sanders served in the United States Army as a Master Sergeant and served in the Korean War. He was an electrician by trade and in later years was an Electrical Contractor. He was a southern gentleman, never met a stranger, loved to tell stories and jokes, and loved to research family history. Family was the most important thing to him and he leaves a legacy of knowledge for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to carry on.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 9:30 a.m. at Pine Crest Funeral Home and Graveside Services at 10:00 a.m. at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile, AL.
