Velma Rose Patterson

Velma Rose Miller Patterson - Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Radney Funeral Home for Velma Rose Miller Patterson, 66, of Mobile who went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2011. She died at her home.

The Rev. Charles Brown, pastor of Government Street Baptist Church, and the Rev. Danny Cresswell, pastor of Woodlawn Baptist Church of Pascagoula, will officiate. Visitation will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Patterson was born Nov. 13, 1944, in Mobile to John Joseph and Margaret Dixon Miller. She was a member of the first graduating class of Davidson High School in 1963 and had a long career working as a hair stylist throughout the Mobile area.

She was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband, Randel Patterson; parents, John Joseph and Margaret Dixon Miller; brothers, Gary O'Neil and James Dewayne Miller.

She is survived by sons, John (Annette) Oden and James (Susan) Habeck, both of Mobile; sister, Barbara Miller Leytham of Fairhope; brothers, Wesley (Anita) Miller of Afton, Minn., and Bruce (Judy) Miller of Leakesville, Miss., sister-in-law, Ruth Miller of Foley; five grandchildren, Joshua, Justin and Aliyah Oden and Kaleigh and McKenzie Habeck; three nieces, two nephews, 10 great nieces and nephews; a host of other family members and friends, and her beautiful poodle, Cocoa.

Burial will follow the service at Pine Crest cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway.
