Victor George Manley, better known to his friends and family as Bo, passed away on January 2, 2026, in Mobile, Alabama, at the age of 72. Bo was born in Anchorage, Alaska, to George Victor and Martha Nell Manley at Elmendorf Air Force Base as a volcano erupted outside the delivery room window on July 8, 1953. His father was transferred to Mobile, Alabama, to serve as a Deputy U.S. Marshal where Bo and his siblings attended elementary school at Mertz Elementary School. He later attended W.P. Davidson High School, where he was a member of Phi Kappa Fraternity. After graduation, Bo went on to become a stainless steel mechanic working for Mr. Mooney at ACE Fabrication, building industrial kitchen equipment that is still in service throughout the city of Mobile and across the United States. In 1973, Bo and Alicia McQuillen, who met in high school, married in Mobile, Alabama, and later had two children, Lisa and Vickie.
Spending time at the beach with his family and taking his kids to visit Scoops Ice Cream Shop in Gulf Shores, founded by his mother, were some of his favorite pastimes. He loved boating and fishing with his best friend, Steve Boykin, in Little Lagoon and Dog River as well as fishing for tarpon across the coastal waters with Steve and his sister Dedee. He was known for his ability to build and/or fix anything, including the full restoration of his father’s dune buggy that once cruised the beaches of Gulf Shores.
