

Dr. William Randolph Bridges, age 79, of Loxley, AL, passed away at his home in the loving arms of his wife Susan, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 after a lengthy illness. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James P. Bridges and Mrs. Virginia Traylor McGowen. Dr. Bridges was a graduate of the University of Texas and Tulane University School of Medicine. He served his country honorably as Major in the United States Army as a surgeon during the Vietnam Era, and received the Bronze Star for bravery. He was a renowned Neurosurgeon and partner of Neurosurgery, PA, with Drs. Mudd, Mostellar, Cope, Middleton and Faircloth for over thirty years. Dr. Bridges loved life and all it had to offer. He faced each day with adventure and activity. He was an avid pilot, scuba diver, golfer, jogger, and in 1997 retired to Montana where he became a “Montana Cowboy”. Dr. Bridges is survived by his wife, Susan Barber Bridges, whom he loved dearly, his children; James W. Bridges (Jody) of Huntsville, AL, Baylissa Bridges Harper (Jim) of Fairhope, AL, Virginia Bridges Harriss (Bo) of Durham, NC, G. Ryan Price-Williams (Mae) of Loxley, Al and Elizabeth C. Bridges of Brooklyn, NY. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Drs. John H. McGowen and Gerri McGowen of Tacoma, WA, cousins; Gymme Mielle and Catherine Walton of Houston, TX, grandchildren; Susie, Jimmy, Will and Jack Bridges, Jake Harriss, Red Price-Williams, Scarlett Harper Anderson, Kaitlin Harper, and great-grandchild, Harper Anderson and many other family and friends. A private family celebration of Bill’s life will be held at a later date. Reverend William Baumgarten retired Episcopal priest from Kalispell, Montana will officiate at the services. Memorial donations may be offered to the Alzheimer Association in your local area.
