Mr. Woodie Ray Byrd, Sr., age 81. A native and lifelong resident of Mobile County, Alabama, died at home on Friday May 25, 2012.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodie and Jessie Byrd, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Byrd was retired from Courtaulds Fibers and was a Korean War Veteran having served 8 years in the Army.
He is survived by his wife, Marion Ruth Byrd; two sons, Pete Byrd and Dennis Byrd; two daughters, Paula Ellinburg and Judith (Michael) Bettis. Five grandchildren, Brandon Byrd, Bradley Byrd, Jessica (Kevin) Wickel, Carey (Kyle) Rogers, and Cody Byrd. Four great grandchildren, Jacob Simons, Kaleb Wickel, Hannah Wickel and Maddex Rogers and numerous family members and friends.
Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 until 8 PM at Radney Funeral Home on Dauphin St. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 29, 2012 at 2 PM at the Semmes First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 1:30 pm until service time. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.
