Y Z Hunter

Mr. Y Z Hunter, a native of Selma, Alabama, was born on July 22, 1926, departed this life peacefully at his residence on Friday, June 1, 2018. He lived a long great life of 91 years. He retired from the City of Mobile after over 40 years of service.

Preceding him in death is his mother, Luvenia Hunter and father, Virgil Carter; two sisters, four brothers; and one great-grandson.

He is survived by his only child, son, Mr. James Lee (Delores) Hunter of Mobile, AL; one brother, Mr. Clarence (Gwendolyn) Hunter Sr. of Mobile, AL; two granddaughters, Ms. Jamie Hunter Williams, and Ms. Shalanise Evans Hunter, both of Mobile, AL; four grandsons, Mr. James (Sylvia) Hunter, Mr. Carl (Edwina) Hunter, Mr. Harold (Kimber) Hunter, and Mr. James (LaKeshia) Grimes, all of Mobile, AL; 18 great-grandchildren; four devoted nieces, Mrs. Rosie Conner Hunter of Far Rockaway, NY, Mrs. Berta Mae (Johnnie) Ervin, Ms. Gloria (Melvin) Wade, and Ms. Ida Mae Hunter; one devoted godson, Mr. Thomas (Dale) Blakely of Mobile, AL; two devoted neighbors and friends, Ms. Bell and Ms. Mary of Mobile, AL; and one lifelong friend, Mr. Ed McClane.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Pine Crest Funeral Home on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile. A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Pine Crest, with interment in Pine Crest Cemetery to follow.
