Ann was born March 30, 1941, in Renfrew, Ontario, Canada. Some of her fondest memories were living on the farm with her grandparents. She would tell stories of her adventures on the farm, especially when her grandparents went into town. They walked three miles every day to their one room schoolhouse and never missed a day of school. On the days when there was too much snow, her grandfather would get them to school by pulling them on a sled by horse. These are a few of the stories she would tell, and we loved hearing them. As a young adult while vacationing in Denver, CO she met her husband, Michael Anderson. She moved to New Jersey where they raised their children. They were married for many years and remained good friends up until his death in 2007.
Ann moved to Monroe, CT in 2002 with her daughter Kim and family where she spent her years watching her grandchildren grow. She was a fixture at every youth soccer, baseball, football, and lacrosse game. Everyone called her Gramma, even other parents, friends and neighborhood kids. She loved music and dancing. She loved opening her windows on a breezy day, filling up the room with sunshine and cool air. She loved watching the birds nesting in the trees outside her window. She loved going to McDonald’s for her 2 cheeseburgers and fries, driving to Wolfe Park, and finding a quiet spot in the shade to eat her lunch while people watching or reading her newspaper, followed by a walk around the lake. She was strong in her faith, loved the Lord and lived a Christian life to the best of her ability. She was loved by everyone who met her.
She spent her final year and a half in the care of Maplewood at Danbury. She was loved and cared for dearly by the entire staff. They went above and beyond for mom and cared for her in ways only family members would. Our family will forever be grateful to you. In her final weeks she was cared for with dignity and compassion by Regional Hospice of Danbury.
Ann is predeceased by her beloved brother Kenneth Wilson (1938-2013), her father Robert Wilson (1915-1978), and her grandparents John Wilson (1891-1952) and Margaret “Maggie” Wilson (1892-1981). She is survived and missed dearly by her three children Lisa Ertl (Greg), Michael Anderson and Kim Rohach (Tim), cherished sister Marilyn Johnston, grandchildren Mitchell Anderson, Xavier Anderson, Charisse Anderson, Matthew Ertl, Christian Rohach and Timothy Rohach, Jr., great grandchildren Stacy Anderson, Michael Anderson and Aliyah Anderson as well as several nieces and nephews.
As her family mourns, we take comfort in knowing that her broken, diseased body has been replaced with a brand new one with strong legs and arms, a sharp mind, no pain, no suffering, no tears. She is with our Father in Paradise. Rest in peace our precious Mother.
Visitation hours are 9:00am-11:00am Friday, March 11, followed by a private family service at Spadaccino Funeral Home in Monroe, CT.
