

James was born on January 6th, 1933 in Boston, MA. He was a predeceased by his parents, Timothy J. Moriarty and Nora F. (Brown) Moriarty. In addition, James was predeceased by his loving wife of 43 years, Mary Louise (Doherty) Moriarty. He also leaves behind five loving children, Mary Moriarty of Key West, FL, James D. Moriarty Jr. of Shelton, CT, Deirdre F. Stone and her husband Jeff of Tracy, CA, Elaina T. Moriarty of Norwell, MA, and Timothy J. Moriarty and his wife Jean of Waterbury, CT. James leaves behind seven grandchildren, Heidi Stone, Daniel Stone, Hilary Stone, Olivia Stone, John Stone and also Jason and Timothy Moriarty. With great regret and sadness, James leaves behind his best friend and significant other, Julene VonGlinsky. James also leaves behind his three siblings, Jean O’Connell (predeceased), Eleanor Keane of Boston, MA, Neil Moriarty (predeceased) and numerous loving nieces and nephews. James will be missed by friends he had made throughout his working career/profession. In addition, he will be sadly missed by his community of friends he made throughout the “Senior Centers” he attended.
James was a graduate of Boston University. Also attended the University of New Haven, CT (Post Grad). Served in the United States Army. He worked at AVCO LYCOMING in Stratford, CT for 37 years as an aeronautical engineer. Aviation was his life’s passion. He also enjoyed a good competitive hockey game.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 18th, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm at Spadaccino & Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday March 19th, 2014 at 11am at St. Jude Roman Catholic Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT 06468. Interment will follow at Monroe Center Cemetery in Monroe. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Bridgeport, CT.
