

DOROCAK Julia (Havanich) Dorocak, age 95, of Monroe, the beloved wife of the late Joseph Dorocak, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 4, 2010 aware of the constant compassionate care of her beloved daughter, Mary Ann and the love and support of her son Joe, granddaughters Jessica and Becky and daughter-in-law, Kathy. BIOGRAPHY: Mrs. Dorocak was born in New York City and moved to Bridgeport at the age of 4 and Monroe in 1960. She graduated from Harding High school, Bridgeport Normal School and New Haven Teachers College, where she received a Bachelors degree in Education. She taught Music, Science and other subjects in several Bridgeport schools including Columbus, Webster, and Roosevelt. At St. John Nepomucene Parish in Bridgeport, she sang in the choir, sang solos and played the organ. She became organist and choir director for Saint Stephen's in Monroe in the late 1950's. She was also a member of the Monroe Senior Center Chorus and the St. Jude choir. She delighted in teaching, learning and singing. She was constantly active and, as many friends noted, no grass grew under her feet. SURVIVORS: Mrs. Dorocak is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Dorocak of Hudson, NH, her son Joe Dorocak of San Carlos, CA, her granddaughters Jessica Chapman of Bakersfield, CA and Becky of Mountain View, CA, her great grandson, Mason of Mountain View, CA who called her Grandma "Ju-ya", and her siblings Lillian Grassi of Bedford, MA, Evelyn Ochinko of Windsor Locks, CT, and Eugene Havens of Fairfield, CT. CALLING HOURS: Friends may greet her family on Sunday, January 10, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Spadaccino Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe CT. SERVICES: Friends are invited to attend the funeral mass on Monday January 11, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe CT. Interment to follow in St John's Cemetery, 2610 Nichols Avenue, Stratford CT. IN LIEU OF FLOWERS: The family asks that gifts be directed to Fairfield University in support of the Fairfield University/Bridgeport Public Schools Music Program in memory of Julia Dorocak.
