

McDermott, Mary Louise (Coyle) of Monroe, CT entered into rest on Saturday, December 24, 2011 at St. Vincent’s Hospital after a very courageous battle with Burkitt lymphoma. She was born on July 23, 1930 in Cumberland, MD to the late Bernard and Marie Coyle. Mary Louise was the loving wife of the late C. William McDermott. A graduate of Catholic University, she lived in Stamford, CT for nearly 40 years where she was employed at Strawberry Hill Convalescent Home and The Homestead as a registered nurse, giving the utmost care to her patients. Mary Louise was a devout Catholic, an avid gardener and nature enthusiast who loved all of God’s creatures. Mary Louise unselfishly devoted her life to her 5 children: Olivia (Livvy) and her husband Mark Faford of Trumbull, CT, W. Jerome McDermott (Jerry) and his wife Tricia of Monroe, CT, C. Stephen McDermott and his wife Michele of Stamford, CT, Frank McDermott of Stamford, CT and Angie McDermott of Milford, CT. She was the loving “Nanny” to Christopher and Caitlin Faford and Shannon, Colleen and Luke McDermott. Mary Louise is survived by her sister Martha Ann Pirovolides (Gino) and brother Richard Coyle, her sister-in-law Mary Coyle, and many special nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Bernard and Thomas Coyle and her sister Margaret Ellen Kastner, and sisters in-law Jane Crippen, Doris McMahon and Sally Rennie. Mary Louise had many friends that she held dear to her heart from childhood as well as later in life. Mary Louise was a true inspiration to all who knew her. A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, December 30th at St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT at 11:00am. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00am – 11:00am at St. Jude. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary Louise’s name to St. Vincent Foundation - SWIM Across the Sound, 2800 Main St., Bridgeport, CT 06606.
