She was 85 years old and was the wife of the late Captain John Strachan (USN, Retired). Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial service on Saturday, January 18 at 11:00am at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in New Providence, NJ.
Born in Orange, NJ, Mir was the daughter of the late Theodore H. and Miriam F. Deutz. She was raised in Maplewood, NJ, where she met childhood playmates that would become cherished, lifelong friends. Mir attended Laselle Junior College and received an Associate Degree in Science. She held a number of professional positions within the real estate and finance sectors before retiring to spend time with her grandchildren. Mir was a long term resident of New Jersey until moving to Connecticut in 2010.
Mir will be remembered for her unwavering love of family and friends, her selfless and giving nature, her devotion to her children and grandchildren, her whimsical sense of humor and her affection for all things chocolate. She is survived by her son John D. Strachan of Bordentown, NJ, son Douglas Wm. Strachan and his wife Cindy of Monroe, CT, and her beloved grandchildren, Amy and Christopher. Mir also leaves behind her sister-in-law Nina Deutz, her brother-in-law Robert Strachan and many loving nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her brother, Theodore F. Deutz and brother-in-law, Christopher Strachan.
Burial of cremains will be held privately.
