He was 92 years old. Born in Bridgeport CT, on March 14, 1929 and he was the son of Robert and Ethel Bohm.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Marlene Hammerle, his son Robert F (Darlene) Bohm, daughter Pamela Bohm (Michael) Blasko. He also leaves grandchildren Kelly Bohm (Sasha Marouche), Robert P. (Jessica) Bohm, Zachary Bohm, and Brooke (Massimo) Rosati, as well as great grandchildren Luke Rosati, Mason Rosati, and Jameson Bohm.
Bob was the beloved patriarch of his family. He was a strong, well-educated man, who never stopped learning. He inspired many, but his family most of all. Bob was a graduate of Stratford High School 1946. Following high school, Bob earned his Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Bridgeport, and later a Masters of Applied Mathematics from University of Connecticut. Bob also pursued a pHD from Columbia University in NYC.
Always dedicated and hard-working, Bob had a very successful career of which he (and his family) were proud. He spent the majority of his successful career at Avco Lycoming/Textron. There, he rose to the position of Chief of Dynamics and Experimental Mechanics. He also had multiple engagements at Sikorsky Aircraft, finishing his career in Stratford in the Dynamic Systems Transmissions group.
Bob was a pillar of the community. Committed to giving back, his contributions were many. Of note, Bob served as a helmsman in the US Navy Reserves 1948 – 1955. He was a revered Professor of Statics and Dynamics at University of Bridgeport, known for long lectures and being a tough grader. He was the Monroe Police Commissioner in the early 1960s and was also a very proud lifetime Lions Club Member (serving a term as president). Bob remained active in his retirement as a longtime board member of the Northbrook Condominium Association. In retirement he also continued to teach, but then it was for the benefit of helping his grandchildren with their homework.
Always keeping busy with hobbies and interests, Bob was an avid exercise and sports enthusiast. A longtime runner before running was common and YMCA member of Bridgeport and Trumbull. Bob worked out frequently into his early 90s, maintaining admirable strength. He was a recreational golfer and die-hard UConn mens basketball fan. He also loved to watch the Yankees with his wife, Marlene.
Bob lived a long, inspirational life, always on his own terms. His memory will live on in the hearts of his adoring wife and family.
A private family service will be held in Bob’s honor at a future date.
