

Teresa, age 98 of Trumbull, passed away peacefully at Connecticut Hospice in Branford on Wednesday, January 2, 2013. She was born April 1, 1914 in Minturno, Italy and came to the United States in 1920. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Anthony Conte and her daughter, Rosemarie Beregszazy. Teresa was the daughter of the late Henry and Concetta (Tartaglia) Conte. Teresa is survived by her loving daughter Frances Potocky and her husband Clifford of Huntington, her devoted brother Carlo Conte of Trumbull, and her sister Antoinette DeLibero of Fairfield. She also leaves a loving son-in-law, Brian Beregszazy of Henderson, Nevada. She will be missed by her five adoring grandchildren, Lynne Schroeder and her husband Dan of Port Crane, NY, Brian Beregszazy and his wife Becky (Elks) Beregszazy of Chesapeake, VA, Christopher Potocky and his wife Amanda of Cary, NC, Terra Potocky Lai and her husband Jon of Riverdale, NY, and Chad Potocky and his wife Rosemarie of Pasadena, MD, and her six adoring great-grandchildren, Brett and Kristen Elks, Talon and Tambria Schroeder, Teresa Kay Potocky and Peyton Matthew Lai. She is also survived by two loving nephews, Henry Conte, his wife Marcie and their children Erika & Patrick of Huntington, and Stephen Conte, his wife Gretchen and their children Anthony, Ryan, and Nicholas of Monroe. She will also be missed by many loving relatives in Italy as well as many cousins and friends. Teresa was the co-owner together with her brother Carlo, of Conte’s Liquor Store in Bridgeport where she worked until her retirement in 1977. She will be fondly remembered by all those who visited their store during their 23 years of business. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, cooking and visiting with family and friends. Her house was always open to visitors. She loved to tell stories about the old days which family members were eager to hear. We are deeply grateful to Teresa’s devoted caregivers who made it possible for her to remain at home. They are Maria Goncalves, Augusta Rosa, Leona Carloni, Carmen Telfer, Charlene Vincent, and, most recently, Janie Scott. Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Friday, January 4 from 4 PM to 8 PM at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher and Son Community Funeral Home 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe, CT. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 5 at 9 AM at St. Theresa Church 5301 Main Street, Trumbull with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford.
