ROMANO Mrs. Therese Michalic Romano, age 71, of Trumbull, beloved wife and mother, passed away on May 23, 2011 at Bridgeport Hospital. She was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, and raised in Bridgeport. The daughter of the late Mary and Michael Michalic, she was a graduate of Warren Harding High School and attended Sacred Heart University. During her career she was an employment manager for State National Bank of Connecticut and Director of Personnel for Gimbels in Bridgeport. At a time when few women achieved that level, she was responsible for all public relations activities for corporate headquarters and maintained editorial liaison with trade, local press, television and radio. In later years, she was a freelance writer and newspaper editor, activities which she continued up until her passing. Always active in the Church, she considered St. Jude’s Parish in Monroe the best parish she ever belonged to. A Eucharist Minister, she treasured the opportunity to bring Holy Communion and pray with the residents of Ashalar Nursing Home in Newtown and St. Joseph’s Manor in Trumbull. As a member of the Prayer Lay Ministry at St. Jude’s, she re-introduced and led the recitation of the Rosary after daily Mass, she was also a CCD instructor and taught at Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport. In addition to her husband of 33 years, Daniel Anthony Romano, she is survived by her son Daniel Michael Sylvester Romano, his fiancée Jill DiGregorio, sister-in-law Grace Mary Romano, her husband Gault Booth and nephew Geoffrey Booth.
