James Raymond Koehler, born January 16, 1928 in Plankinton, SD, passed away on October 27, 2013 in Monroe, WA, being called home to Heaven after a brave battle with cancer. Jim proudly served his country in the US Navy during both WWII and the Korean conflict. He was preceded in death by parents Bernard and Eva, brothers Wayne, Bob, Jack, Larry, and Gene, and sisters Mildred and Marge. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Marie, daughters Nan Hetland (Richard), Jenifer Schwartz (Al), Janet Mattson (Ken), Jamie Trombley, Kay Blakey (Bo), sons Andy Koehler (Karen) and Pete Koehler (Mary), sisters Mary, Ruth Anne, brothers Don, and Tom, eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A special thank you to his coffee buddies. A Funeral Mass honoring Jim's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013 at 11am at St. Mary of the Valley Church, 601 W. Columbia St., Monroe. Please join us for a military burial service immediately following at IOOF Cemetery, 21714 Old Owen Rd. Monroe, WA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
