

Nina Marie Newcomb Sedlak (1923 – 2017) passed away on January 16, 2017 in Monroe, WA at age 93. Born in Lincoln, NB on May 15, 1923 to John K. and Nina V. (Risk) Newcomb, Nina grew and married Bernard Sedlak there on November 12, 1944. Together they moved to various job locations and ended up in the Puget Sound area to live and raise their children. Nina was blessed with artistic abilities. She enjoyed playing piano, writing, photography, and painting. She had poetry published, won an award for her photography and wrote a column for the Sumner News Index. She served on the Bonney Lake, WA City Council over 10 years. Nina will be remembered as an avid reader, as she always surrounded herself with books to read and reread. She is survived by her son Paul Sedlak, daughters Janice Sedlak (Kent Jones), Barbara Petersen (Ed) and Judy Sedlak, as well as her 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Nina was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Barney and daughter, Bonnie. Nina’s interment will be near Barney at the Sumner Cemetery in Sumner, WA. A special thanks to the staff at the Regency Care Center in Monroe, WA for their loving care during Nina’s last days. She is now dancing with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ and truly loves you all.
