Philip Edward Sutherland, born February 27, 1945, in Thames, New Zealand to Stanley and Leonie Sutherland, departed this life on July 23, 2016, in Kirkland, Wash. at the age of 71. Phil proudly served in the US Air Force for 27 years and retired as a Chief Master Sergeant. He is survived by his loving wife, Victoria, and her children: Jessaca Bingham (Jonathan), Laura Garrett (David), Charyl Boysen (Kyle), and Karen Akay (Najme). He is also survived by his children from his previous marriage who are: Kaelene Schoen (Rob), Wendi Shupe (Rhode), Michael Sutherland (Martha), David Sutherland (Elizabeth), Christine Hanes (Willie), Stephen Sutherland (Allison), Daryl Sutherland (Brooke) as well as his siblings in New Zealand: Cilbey Tyne, Terry Sutherland (Maxine), Ngiera Sands (Brett), and sister-in-law, Denise Sutherland (Brian; 42 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his brother, Brian Sutherland. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Purdy & Kerr with Dawson Funeral Home, 409 W. Main St., Monroe, WA. A memorial service celebrating Phil's life will be held that evening at 7 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 17332 Tester Rd., Monroe, WA.
