Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Walter Watson Dickinson and Alice Josephine Anderson Dickinson. She was their only child. She grew up with her first cousins Mike, Linda, Ken in San Gabriel Valley, CA. She loved her grandparents, many aunts and uncles, and relatives in CA, IA, and SD. Harriet, Joe, Virginia, Dick, Bev, Nick.
She met a Marine on a blind date in 1955 named James Clinton De Lap. They married in Kingman, Arizona on November 11, 1956. They borrowed her parents’ car in San Gabriel, California to go get ice cream on a Friday night and returned on Sunday after eloping. They were married 53 years. She gained a sister-in-law Barbara and her family. They created a family with their children Nancy Louise De Lap, David Clinton De Lap, William James De Lap. They enjoyed longtime friendships with the men and their families who met working for the Railroad in 1960. They were vacation friends, and then lifetime friends.
John, Dolores, Doug, Carolyn, Doug, Bonnie, John, Linda and their children. Through the years, they added more friends and neighbors in Yucca, AZ. Pam, JB, Natalie, Wanda.
De Anna volunteered for Camp Fire Girls for 10 years and became a dependable leader to the girls. Alicia and her sister Angela, Carrie and her mother Virginia, Cindy, Valerie, Robin, Wendy, Susan. Her neighbor Julie loved talking about sewing with her. When she began work, she easily fell into human resources positions at Target and Home Depot. She started at entry level in each company and rose to administration levels. Her caring and dedication went beyond what was required by the companies.
She enjoyed her years in Azusa, CA and loved meeting new friends and neighbors. She and her daughter, Nancy, were able to travel, enjoy concerts, go shopping, see shows and had many conversations. With Lisa, Laura, Joe, Jeff, Veronica, Olivia, Marcie, Carol, Kathy, John, Dyan, Charlotte, Azusa felt like home. She often volunteered for Nancy’s classroom and loved hearing the school stories from her friends and colleagues. She developed friendships with Joyce, Cricket, and Maria in the "All About You" beauty shop.
She was loved by Dave’s family. Yvonne and her family. including Richard and Rachel, Elvira and Eddy. Amber and Lukas. Joe and Joe’s family. Sumer, Joey, Kristin. Joey’s family including Elsa, David and many more. Kaelie, Eddie and their baby Alessandra. She looked forward to each Mother’s Day, birthday and holiday celebration.
Bill’s family loved her. Kris, Ryan, Tyler. Kris’ family including Lois, Karen, John and many more. She was just getting to know Nora and her family and she will be missed at the wedding. Every visit she was able to make was precious. She loved seeing new places in Missouri and hearing new stories about their daily lives.
She was a great mother. A supportive daughter, a patient wife, a loyal friend who gently guided all of us. She always wished she could do more. She did enough.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the support cancer research.
