away peacefully at the San Gabriel Valley Medical Center, California on January 16, 2023, after
a day filled with heartfelt and final visitations from his loving family, siblings and kin, and
godchildren.
Ivica was the middle child of three siblings born to parents Marin and Domina Zorka Tudor. Ivica
was 6 when his father was taken into the army in WW II in 1943 and never returned. Life was
hard on the island after the war but he recalled many fond memories spending his days playing
with his older brother Marinko Tudor and his younger sister Borinka Tudor Hanrahan.
While working for the Harmonia Musical Instrument Factory in Zagreb he met his future and
beloved wife Matilda (Tilika) Bele on a blind date setup by mutual friends. They married in 1960
and with little opportunities for them in Zagreb, Ivica went to Stuttgart, West Germany to start a
new life for both and was joined there 2 years later by Tilika.
In 1966, they learned they had family in America and used all of their money to purchase two
plane tickets to join them in Los Angeles. Later that year, they settled into their permanent small
home in Temple City. For the next 20 years Ivica was the foreman of Pianos Wholesale in Los
Angeles where he managed a piano rebuilding factory that fed four retail stores in LA and San
Diego.
After his boss retired in 1986, over a 3 day weekend, Ivica found a new location, signed the
lease and used all he had saved to start his own piano rebuilding and retail factory and store,
also called Pianos Wholesale, in Temple City, California. He loved being his own boss and
having his son John and wife Tili working by his side.
His beloved wife Tili passed away in 2020, but Ivan was comforted knowing John and his
partner Vivian Zhang were taking care of the business, and his final years gave him and his son
more time to spend enjoying their similar hobbies.
In his final months, his smile would always greet John and Vivian as they took care of him, his
brother and sister and nephew and nieces when they’d visit, and he died peacefully surrounded
by all those who loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Marin and Domina Zorka Tudor, and his wife
of over 60 years, Matilda Tudor.
He is survived by his loving son, John and partner Vivian Zhang. Additionally, he is survived by
his loving and supportive brother Marinko (Marija) Tudor and sister Borinka (Jim) Hanrahan, and
his sister-in-laws Barica Malkoc and Marija Bele.
Ivica was also blessed to have so many wonderful nephews and nieces whom he loved. He is
survived by his loving nephews and nieces nearby, including their own children (in parenthesis):
Zorkita Tudor (Stephen and Meaghan), Marena and Jim Padden (Charlie, Trudy and Leah),
Zora Hanrahan Chase (Henry & Caroline), Colleen and Chris Beck (Cory and Jacqueline),
Biserka Malkoc Richter (Phillip, Brandon, Tadiana and Tiffany), Mario Bele, Jimmy Hanrahan
(Kaylin & Lilah) and Tommy Bele (Julianna).
All who loved him will never forget his kind friendship, good humor and selfless nature.
