Janetta Wiley was born on March 28, 1935 in Meridian, Oklahoma to Wallace and Nellie Wiley. She was the third of five children born to her parents. She had two sisters (Lillie and Mae), and two Brothers (Curtis and Reuben).
Janetta became a member of the St. Paul Baptist Church of meridian at an early age. She received her Kindergarten through twelfth grade education at the L'Overture School in Meridian where she graduated in 1953.
In 1955 Janetta married Warren Albert Bowen from Blythe, California. To this marriage four children were born. Sherrel, Keith, Annette and Fern. The family moved from Blythe to Monrovia California in 1957.
Janetta was always active in the community. When her children were young she was a member of the PTA at Huntington School, a member of the Monrovia High School Band Booster Club as well as the Booster Club for Monrovia Little League. She was an active member of the Second Baptist Church of Monrovia from 1960 through 1981. She joined the Community Baptist Church of Monrovia in 1982 and was an active member until her passing.
Janetta worked for many years as a CNA at the Santa Teresita Hospital in Duarte, California. She later went to work for General Telephone Company where she retired in 1995.
Janetta was a great cook and enjoyed feeding people. She loved holidays and birthday celebrations. She would prepare delicious cornbread dressing, potato salad, peach cobbler, sweet potato pies and moist cakes. She was also an excellent seamstress.
Janetta peacefully departed this life on July 13th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, her two brothers and her husband. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Keith (Mona), her three daughters Sherrel, Annette and Fern, one grandson Jason, two granddaughters Tiffany and Tashia, two great grandsons Robert and Jayveon, two great granddaughters Destinee and Nariah, and a huge host of nephews nieces, cousins, in-laws and wonderful friends.
