MaryAnn Knueven

1937 in Devils Lake, North Dakota. She spent her younger

years growing up with her brother Richard, and sisters; Joyce

and Karen. MaryAnn met and later married Joseph Knueven on

September 22, 1956 in a double wedding with his twin brother

Louis and his wife Marsha at St. Luke Catholic Church in

Temple City. They were married for 43 years.

Joe and MaryAnn started life out in ElMonte and then moved

to Arcadia in 1964. MaryAnn was first and foremost a wife

and another to five children. She loved her family very much

providing an organized, scheduled, loving environment.

MaryAnn worked at Hinshaw’s Department Store and she also

was a school nurse. MaryAnn began working at Crocker Bank in

Arcadia and then eventually moved to the Wells Fargo Card

Center in El Monte. MaryAnn retired after 20 years in the

banking industry. She would always say, “providing service with

a smile keeps the customer happy.”

MaryAnn was known for her strength, not only physically but

mentally, her contagious smile, sense of humor, and great

cooking. MaryAnn was a great sister, mother and aunt,

however she absolutely loved being a grandma. She enjoyed

sitting around the kitchen table with the grandkids and

talking, being silly away from the “adults.” Lots of laughter

and memories were shared.

MaryAnn and Joe raised 5 children, 3 boys and 2 girls. Mom

would often take us to Huntington Beach. She did not know

how to swim but she made sure that all her kids took swim

lessons. When asked why she took 5 kids to the beach without

knowing how to swim, mom would say, “I always sat by the

lifeguard!” We still chuckle to this day about that.

Proceed in death are her parents, sister Joyce, her husband

Joseph, 2 sons Mark and Tim, and daughter JoAnn. She is

survived by her son Joe and her daughter Deborah, brother

Richard, sister Karen, 10 grandchildren, and 21 great

grandchildren.

MaryAnn was 84 years old. She is reunited with loved ones in

heaven.
