Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband, mother, brother and sister. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her remaining sister, four daughters, and two sons. Her humility was among her strongest trademarks along with her dedication to family. She was born in Smackover, Arkansas and in the 50s she moved to Monrovia, California to join their parents in their western migration. Merline's yes, meant yes and her no, meant no with family, friend or foe. A fun loving and kind woman, she had a quiet grace and always ready to lend an ear or a hand as a trustworthy friend. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, friend and a hard worker with strong work ethics and many talents. In fact, she was highly regarded for her fashion, green thumb gardening and culinary skills in and out of the church. She loved music, especially gospel. She and her Marine Corps veteran husband who preceded her in death moved with their children to Mississippi in the 70s where in addition to being an extraordinary homemaker she owned a convenience store. She often gave to those in need and made numerous community contributions.
Mrs. Moore will be laid to rest at a graveside memorial service at Live Oak Memorial Park in Monrovia, CA on Saturday, March 20, 2021. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in the future.
Please consider, in lieu of flowers, green plants which were among their mother’s favorite. Donations may also be made to assist the establishment of a future non-profit organization in honor of Merline Moore supporting the wellness of caretakers.
