David Robert Buchan was born at Pasadena Hospital, September 8, 1926, to David and Margaret Buchan. He went to grade school in Sierra Madre and University at USC. He served in WWII in the Navy and was honorably discharged. He got his degree in business and put it to good use working his way up at Union Bank, where he was a VP of auditing and spent most of his career. David also served on his condominium association board for many years. He enjoyed business, working with numbers, get-togethers (in his younger years) and really enjoyed cars. He is fondly remembered for being frugal but also for buying top of the line when he did purchase. David passed away November 2020. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Olive Buchan, and her 3 grandchildren.
Rita Johanna Einhorn was born in Germany, October 19, 1925 to Hugo Richard Einhorn and Hedwig Johanna Einhorn. Rita immigrated to the United States when she was young and went to school to become a nurse. She worked in Huntington Hospital, Pasadena and Sierra Madre Hospital, Sierra Madre. She became a citizen of the United States in 2002. Rita enjoyed animals, music, gardening, baking, and serving the board of their condominium association. She is fondly remembered for monitoring the guest parking area and watching who came and went from the complex. Rita was a fighter and went through many ups and downs over the past several years. Rita passed away February 12, 2022. She is survived by Gabriele Bromberg-Houet, her daughter from a previous marriage, 3 grandsons, 3 great-grandsons, and 1 great granddaughter.
Both David and Rita enjoyed the horse races, frequenting Santa Anita quite often in their younger years. As they aged, they would go to Santa Anita in the morning, make their bets, and then watch the races on TV at home. Rita always claimed that David lost quite frequently and she was the one who won!
A graveside service for Rita will be held Monday, March 7, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Live Oak Memorial Park, 200 E Duarte Road, Monrovia, California 91016.
