

Born on January 10, 1944, in Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mexico, to Salvador and Elena Montana, Victor later came to the United States, where he grew up in Boyle Heights. He went on to become a proud lifelong resident of Los Angeles, California, carrying his heritage with him throughout his life. He was the oldest of four siblings: Norma Montana, Sylvia Nishikawa (Montana), and Salvador Montana.
Victor attended Santa Isabel School and graduated from Salesian High School. He briefly attended East Los Angeles College before answering the call to serve his country. Due to the draft, he enlisted in the United States Navy in 1966, serving in the Naval Construction Battalion as a Seabee. Following his military service, he pursued his education at UCLA, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in History.
Victor began his professional life as a teacher before dedicating 32 years to serving his community as a Supervisor, Deputy Probation Officer. Through his work, he sought to guide and support others and befriended all those around him.
Victor had a deep love for reading and music and was a lifelong learner. He had a wonderful sense of humor and did not take himself or life too seriously. His lighthearted spirit brought comfort to those around him. He was a gifted storyteller, sharing stories with his children and later with his grandchildren, creating memories they will cherish forever.
Above all, Victor loved his family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret Christine Montana; his son, Michael Edward Montana; his daughters, Cristina Sylvia Montana and Maureen Yvette Montana MacLean; his son-in-law Thomas MacLean; and his cherished grandchildren, Abram, Nicolas, Donovan, and Evangeline.
Victor’s legacy lives on through the love, wisdom, and stories he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Turner & Stevens-Live Oak Mortuary, 200 E Duarte Road, Monrovia, CA 91016, US, on March 13, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service at Turner & Stevens-Live Oak Mortuary at 1:00 pm.
A Committal Service will take place at Live Oak Memorial Park, 200 E Duarte Rd, Monrovia, CA 91016, US, on March 13, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
