Perla Lorena Lopez

Perla Lorena Lopez was a beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend who passed on July 14, 2023 from natural causes at the age of 52. Growing up in a family of six siblings and raised by a single mother, Perla was a caregiver from a young age, never ceasing to look after her family and loved ones. She had an open heart, often thinking of her friends and family before thinking of herself. This in turn formed her passions, which eventually led to Perla discovering her vocation as one who listens. Graduating from University of Illinois, Chicago in 2013 with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Social Work, she acted as more than a therapist, but as a healer and caregiver. Perla had the heart of a healer, uplifting everyone whom she encountered, inspiring them to think outside of the box and use their creative sides. Quick to offer support, whether it was a ride to the doctor’s office or providing childcare to her nieces and nephews. In her free time, she could always be found doing some form of arts and crafts, finding ways to incorporate the color purple, and would teach Catechism to young children. Perla leaves behind her mother Maria Merino, brothers (Jose Lopez and Noel Lopez), and sisters (Maria Roca, Veronica Carpio, and Diana Navarro) along with her nieces, nephews, & god-children and the countless people whom she had impacted in her life. To honor her memory, she would have wanted all of us who remain on our journeys to be kind and spread joy to those around us.

A visitation for Perla will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Montebello, 913 West Whittier Blvd, Montebello, CA 90640.
