Betty Joyce Dennis

Betty Joyce "MawMaw" Johnson Dennis, age 74, of Six Mile, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home on December 23, 2019. Joyce grew up in Selma and Wilton, and was a graduate of Montevallo High School. She was part of the Six Mile Baptist Church family. She dedicated her life to her family- raising her "babies", cooking delicious meals, and celebrating holidays and individual accomplishments with her kids and grandkids. She sang like an angel, even until her final days. Her favorite pastime was sitting with her husband in their chairs outside. She loved making her grocery trip on Fridays and watching Hallmark movies during Christmas.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Rozelle Lucas Johnson and Greene Johnson; brother, Billy Johnson; niece, Patricia Mathis; nephew, Milton Mathis; and great-nephew, Billy Charles Mathis. Left to treasure her memory is her husband of 45 years, William "Frankie" Dennis; babies, Frieda Joyce Shoults (Mike) of Centreville, AL and Cynthia Renea Dennis (Joey Kisner) of Akron, OH; grandbabies, Dawson, Alayna and Will Shoults; sister, Dot Foshee of Selma, AL; great-niece, Jennifer Mathis Parsons (Daniel); and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

MawMaw's funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Six Mile Baptist Church, with visitation to begin at 12:30 PM. Bro. Bob Hope will officiate and burial will follow at Six Mile Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers are Mike Shoults, Jackie Foshee, Randy Foshee, Scott Gibson, Cecil Gibson, Patrick Knighten, Clay Williamson and Chris O'Dell. Honorary pallbearers are Dawson Shoults and Will Shoults. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to Six Mile Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.
