Chester "Chuck" Bethea, age 71, of Wilton, Alabama, passed away after an extended illness on December 23, 2019. Chuck was a native of Mobile, Alabama, and a veteran of the US Navy. He owned and retired from MDI, a medical supply company. He was an enigma wrapped in a puzzle wrapped in bacon. Chuck was an avid gardener and a wonderful storyteller. He enjoyed drinking beer or scotch and listening to blues in the red barn, next door to April, and flying kites on the beach with April - his joy, and Gavin - his heartbeat.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Bethea and Cordelia Williams Bethea. Chuck is survived by his wife and true love of 37 years, April Chastain Bethea; son, Gavin Parker Bethea; brother, Roderick Bethea (Sherry) of Mobile; sister-in-law, Denise Almond (Dennis) of Montevallo; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 at 1:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), with visitation to begin at 12:00 PM. A committal service will follow at 2:00 PM at Alabama National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to your favorite veterans' support group.
