

Curtis grew up in Verbena, Alabama. At sixteen, he joined the Army to see the world. One of his stops was Seoul South Korea where he met his wife Misoon Kim. Sometime after being stationed there, conflict broke out in Vietnam where he served several tours. A career military veteran of 27 years, attaining the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a proud patriot that served this great nation. After retiring from the Army, he started a landscaping business up until his second retirement several years ago. He helped raise 5 children and was a great father to them. He will be sorely missed!
He is survived by his children Ricky Mims, Yvette Pinkerton (Gene), Paul Mims, Jovette Johnson (Kenny) brothers; Johnny Mims (Linda) and Richard Mims. Sister: Jean Edwards (Randall) grandchildren; Christina, Christopher, Cameron, Katie, Nicholas, Alyssa, Jasmine, Jada, Luke, and seven great grandchildren.
He is preceded by parents George P. Mims and Fannie B. Mims, his loving wife Kim M. Mims, brothers; Billy (BJ) Mims and Jimmy (Shorty) Mims, son; Ronnie Mims, and grandson Michael Mims.
A committal service for Curtis will be held at the Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115, on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 1:15pm.
