Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Gomez Hughes. He is survived by his daughter, Olivia Hughes Campbell (Jammie) of Brierfield, AL; his son, Samuel Hughes (Jennifer) of Pelham, AL; three grandchildren, Austin Dupree, Alexandria Campbell and Mason Hughes; one brother, Marshall Hughes (Laurine) of Columbiana, AL; two sisters, Elsie Stagner and Faye Shoemaker, both of Columbiana, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
There will be visitation for Mr. Hughes on Thursday, June 19, from 6 – 8 PM in the Parlor at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo, AL. His funeral service will be on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pleasant Grove Church in Chelsea, AL. He will lie in state from 1 – 2 PM. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
