

Elwood Eugene Busby, 91, a resident of Calera, Alabama, passed away on May 29, 2026. Born May 20, 1935, in Calera, Alabama, Elwood lived a life marked by steady devotion to his family, his faith, and the work he put his hands and heart into each day.
From an early age, Elwood carried a deep respect for honest effort and practical skill. He pursued certification in trade school as an Electrician, Machinist, and in Woodworking training that reflected both his strong work ethic and the dependable way he approached life’s responsibilities. He believed in repairing things instead of replacing them.
Elwood also served in the National Guard for 10 years, a commitment that spoke to his loyalty and sense of duty. Those who knew him best recognized a man who could be counted on reliable in word and action, and guided by a quiet integrity.
For 66 years, Elwood was married to his loving wife, Jane Busby. Together they built a family rooted in enduring love and steadfast care. He is survived by his daughters, Brenda Busby and Vivian Smith (David); his grandchildren, Brian Smith(Jessica) and Hollie Patridge(Justin); and his great grandchildren, Allyson, Katie, David, Hayden, and Ava Joy.
Elwood’s life was also shaped by the simple, meaningful routines he treasured. He enjoyed Alabama football, loved his machine shop, and found peace sitting on the back porch in his rocking chair as he read scripture. His faith was not merely spoken it was lived, and his love for going to church reflected the steady foundation that carried him through every season of life.
Visitation will be held at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), 3715 HIGHWAY 25, MONTEVALLO, AL 35115, US, on June 6, 2026, from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
A Funeral Service will follow on June 6, 2026, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. With a burial to follow at Enon cemetery, 4994 Co Rd 18, Montevallo, AL 35115
