James Eric Bearden, age 56, of Calera, Alabama passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, January 12, 2025. James was born February 11, 1968 to Homer Bearden and Jeannette (Nelson) Bearden. He was a graduate of Thompson High School and a lifelong car fanatic. He worked as an auto tech for more than 40 years and was the former owner of James Bearden Automotive. James was an avid camper, enjoying time in the mountains, at Wind Creek and TanneHill. When he wasn't traveling he loved to spend time with friends, especially Steve and Beth Allen; he also enjoyed being a pop-pop to his 3 grandchildren. He was a devout member of Amazing Grace Church for over 30 years. More than anything James loved his 1981 Z-28, Black Betty. Over the years cars came and went but he held onto the Z-28. His smile and personality was so contagious. Just by stopping and talking to him for a split second, he could turn your whole day around with his jokes.
James is preceded in death by his parents Homer and Jeannette Bearden and brother-in-law, Butch White.
Left behind to cherish his memory is the love of his life and wife of 33 years, Vickie (Collins) Bearden; daughters, Savannah Duncan (Johnathon) and Gabrielle Edwards (Matthew); grandchildren, Axel Edwards, Caden Duncan, and Harper Edwards; siblings, Diann White, Steve Bearden (Barbara) Vikkie Burnette (Gene) and Amy Harlow; mother-in-law,Kathy Jackson; father-in-law, Steve Collins; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends, and his church family.
A celebration of life will be held in James's honor at Amazing Grace Church ( 949 Highway 31, Alabaster, AL 35007) on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Visiting hours will be from 10 am to 11 am with a service to follow. Reverend Keven Blankenship to officiate
