

Mrs. Jessie Mae Burnett, age 93, of Brierfield, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Jessie was born Tuesday, April 14, 1931 to James Frederick and Irene McElory, in Brierfield, Alabama.
She graduated from Bibb County High School in 1948 and went on to Birmingham Business School to learn administrative duties. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Theodore Burnett. Together, they raised 3 children.
Jessie spent the majority of her career as a department manager of Menswear at Walmart, where she won the Employee of the Year Award. She retired from Walmart in 1994. Ever the hard worker, she started a second career as a secretary for Brierfield State Park.
When not working, Jessie loved puzzles, her flower garden, waterfalls and her cats, who were like her babies. She also enjoyed camping, specifically the great Smokey Mountains where she became famous for her grape jelly hot dogs. She and Theodore also looked forward to the World Series every year.
Most importantly, Jessie was a woman of God and devout Christian. She was a member of Westwood Baptist Church in Alabaster, AL for 30 years. Later in life, she became a member of Wilton Bible Baptist Church in Wilton, AL.
Jessie will join in heaven her loving husband of 47 years, Theodore Burnett; son, Stanley Burnett; parents, James and Irene Frederick; siblings, Eloise F. Vernon, James "Buddy" Frederick, Mildred Smitherman, and Nettie Romanger.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Ted Burnett (Vickie) and Gary burnett (Jackie); daughter-in-law, Beth Burnett; grandchildren, John Burnett, Josh Foster, Cori Heath (Jayson), and Destin Burnett (Michelle); great-grandchildren, Makae Heath, Ella Rose Heath, Kaydee Mae Burnett, and Broox Burnett; siblings, Jerry Frederick (Nancy) and Lanice Chandler (Ray); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and her church family.
A Visitation will be held Saturday February 1, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm. She will be laid to rest at Ashby Cemetery. Brother Tom Hammett will officiate.
