Johnnie Robert White III

Johnnie Robert White III, (“Buddy, JR, Pops”), went to be with his Heavenly Father and was reunited with his bride on March 11, 2015. He was born in Danville, VA and graduated from Duke University in 1951. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Margaret Dickinson White. JR moved to Greenville in 1967 and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and of the Questers Class until he moved to Birmingham AL in 2012. “Buddy” played baseball and tennis at Duke, coached youth sports, played cards and loved to play golf. He served as a 2nd Lt in the USAF from 1951-1953. He worked as the Secretary/Treasurer for Bowers Construction, Comptroller for Dan River Mills and retired from Ford Motors. JR is the son of the late Johnnie Robert White Jr and Celia Dodson White. “Pops” is survived by his sister, Doris White McFarling of Atlanta GA; three children, Cindy Correia (Stephen) of Birmingham, AL; Lt Col Jeffrey White (Karla) of Peachtree City, GA and Steven White (Doreen) of Cumming, GA and seven grandchildren: Lindsay, Brittany, Lauren, Heather, Jessica, Brian and Kristen. Memorial service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Shannon Drive on March 21st at 4pm. Visitation is at the church on March 21st from 5-6 pm. Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
