Margie Nell Griffin Hatcher

Margie Nell Griffin Hatcher, age 91, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2024. Margie was born on October 9, 1932 in Lawley, Perry County, Alabama, the youngest of seven children, including Vaughn, Woodrow, Doris, Ruby, Jessie and Annie Ruth.

She married Thomas Edward Harper in 1952. This union produced two daughters, Sandra Leverne and Sharon Elizabeth Harper. She married for the the second time in 1968 to George Wesley Hatcher, and moved the family to Montevallo in 1969.

Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Wesley Hatcher; son-in-law, Jimmy McGaughy; and five siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Sandra McGaughy, and Sharon Harper; grandchildren, Jay Harper (Kerri), Lacey Gayle Aman (Jayme), and Matthew David Johnson; great-grandchildren, Micah Jay, Ella Ryan, Jemma Gayle and Veda Jaymes; sister, Ruby Nichols; and numerous nieces and nephews and their spouses.

Margie Griffin Hatcher will be missed by many friends including those of the Order of the Eastern Star, and her family including her church family at Wilton Baptist Church. Knowing that she had a beautiful place awaiting her in heaven gives her family much comfort.

A visitation for Margie will be held Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, AL 35115, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Bro. Jerry Sherrell will officiate.

Margie will be laid to rest in Montevallo City Cemetery, Highway 73, Montevallo, Alabama.
