Nellie Ruth Pickett

Known to her family as “Nannie”, she found joy in knitting, sewing, cooking, and caring for others. She and her late husband, Gene, enjoyed their home being the gathering place for friends and family.

Nellie and Gene were both members of the First Baptist Church of Alabaster.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Pickett (Donna); daughters, Lynette Kramer (Jim) and Lisa McDaniel (Jason); grandchildren, Kevin Pickett (Cherie, and great-granddaughter Abbey), Amanda Carnehl (Mark and their children Linus, Theodore, Josie and Shiloh), Andrew Kramer (Shannon and their daughter Rose), and Stacy Roberts (Jay and their children, Lilly and Gray).

She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Edgar E. “Gene” Pickett; her parents, Chester and Nora Bell Carlee; and her sister, Pearl C. Farris.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Southern Care New Beacon, South Haven and Glen Haven Health and Rehab for the kindness and gentle care they provided to Nellie during her long illness.

She will be laid to rest in a private service. Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) directing.
