Stanley “Len” was a man of sharp intellect, deep compassion, and a genuine love for others. His life reflected a commitment to thoughtful leadership, meaningful relationships, and acts of kindness that touched everyone around him. Stanley, a member of Bluff Park Methodist Church, passed away at his home in Montevallo on January 10, 2026.
A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in Finance, Stanley began his professional career working in his grandparents’ business, Jones Office Supply. Upon their retirement, he assumed leadership of the company alongside his mother, Sue Wyatt Lacey. For more than 30 years, Jones Office Supply served the Shelby County area with distinction. Stanley brought a new dimension to the business with his artful eye for graphic design and printing. While the quality of their work and products was the driving force behind the family-owned business, it was the relationships with customers and friendships he cultivated that mattered most to him. Known for his thoughtful attention to each employee and their families, Stanley considered encouraging their growth and development central to his work.
Stanley, a gifted musician and avid reader, shared his extraordinary talents throughout his life. From a young age, he devoured books about history and studied the piano. Later he pursued organ performance and served as organist for Columbiana United Methodist Church for twelve years. His passion for music expanded into a cherished pursuit of restoring organs, including pipe organs, both locally and nationwide. This remarkable work reflected not only his technical expertise but also his deep appreciation for musical heritage, craftsmanship, and historical preservation.
Stanley was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Wyatt Lacey; his father, Dr. Stanley French Lacey; his grandparents, Kate and Robert Lacey and Alice and Tollie Jones; his aunt, Cindy Jones Ellison; and his honorary brother and longtime friend, Russell Scruggs.
He is survived by his loving sister, Dr. Suzanne Lacey of Pelham, Alabama; his aunt, Billie Lacey of Atlanta, Georgia; his cousins, Dr. Jim Patrick Ellison, MD, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Steven Levi Ellison (Maura); and Beau Mac Ellison of Auburn; Kathy Hedgepath (Jerry) of Atlanta, Georgia, and Robert Lacey (Regina) of Enterprise.
