Alfred Javan Hite

He served in the U.S. Army as a Major in the Vietnam war. During his service, Alfred earned many medals such as the National Defense Service Medal, Army Aviation Badge, Vietnam Service medal with 1 Silver Service Star and 2 Bronze Service Stars, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Silver Star, Bronze Star Medal with OLC, Air Medal with V Device, Army Commendation Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Meritorious Service Medal and Senior Army Aviation Badge.

Alfred also worked as a military history instructor and managed a paint contracting company. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and was even the host of his own hunting TV show- Al Hite Outdoors. He was dedicated to and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Dale and Fannie Mae Hite.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Cynthia Hite; his daughters, Sheri Downing (John), Christy Hite, and Candice Goolsby (Jason); his grandchildren, Robert, Tyler, and Logan McMahon and Alexander, Daniel, Connor, Allie, and Aubree Goolsby; and his great-grandchildren, Grayson Battoglia, Hadley McMahon, and Amelia McMahon; and his brother, Martin Dale Hite.

A memorial service for Alfred will be held Friday, March 21, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109.
