Alva Lucille Bender

BENDER, Alva Lucille, 97, a Montgomery resident, died Monday, August 21, 2017. Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2017, at 1 PM, at Leak Memory Chapel, followed by her Funeral Service at 2 PM, with Rev. John Gaines officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Clayton Bender; her parents, Lucille Cone Cain and Alva Louis Cain; and four brothers, John, Winsett, Louis, and Jack Cain. Survivors include her children, Beverly DeFabio (Tom) of St. Louis, MO, and Sharon Coker (Ron) of Birmingham, AL; four grandchildren, Chris DeFabio (Karen), Sunny McElwain (John), Jay Coker (Hollie), and Jill Coker; two great-grandchildren, Auden McElwain & Grey Coker. A long-time member of Capitol Heights Methodist Church, her love was her family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Amedisys Hospice, the Montgomery Humane Shelter, or the charity of your choice.
