Annie Pitts Hawkins

Annie Pitts Hawkins, 96, of Montgomery died at her home on Feb. 16, 2016. She was born May 20, 1919 in Marion, Ala., to the late Minnie Maude Lester and Albert Pitts. Anne was married in 1941 at St. John’s Episcopal Church and was a member there for 70 years.

She is survived by her husband of 74 years, Eugene C. Hawkins, Sr., her daughter, Marion (Robert) Smith of Montgomery, and her son, Eugene C. (Barbara) Hawkins, Jr. of Asheville, N.C. Her grandchildren are Brian (Amanda) Smith, Ashley (Mac) Freeman, Jennifer Smith and Loren (Bobby) Spiller. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, a brother, Albert Pitts, and a sister, Irma Parr. Anne is predeceased by sisters Minnie Hall and Rubye Hickey.

Anne retired after working 31 years for the VA Hospital and then retired again after 20 years of working in management at Canterbury Courts.

A visitation will be held Feb. 19 at 1 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. service at St. John's. Burial will follow at Alabama Heritage. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 113 Madison Ave., Montgomery, AL 36104.
