Barbara Wade Kornegay

Barbara was married to Dr. Randy Kornegay on August 2, 1969; they were married 46 years. Barbara is survived by her husband and her three children, Randall Kornegay and his wife Julie, Scott Kornegay and his wife Jennifer, and Patrick Kornegay, as well as her dear cousins, Martha Ann Bates and Reginald Woodall and many relatives and friends.

Barbara attended Robert E. Lee High School, before attending The University of Alabama where she earned her degree in English. She taught Senior English and Girl’s Physical Education at Phillips High School in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the President of the Board of The Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority for over 20 years. She was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Montgomery.

A graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemetery on March 1, 2016 at 11:00. Reverend John Blount, Minister at First United Methodist Church, will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Montgomery Humane Society, 1150 John Overton Drive, Montgomery, AL 36110.
