Betty Holley passed away peacefully at Bethany House, Auburn, Alabama, after suffering for years with Alzheimer’s. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph L. Holley, her daughter, Lori Holley Henn, her parents, brother and many close relatives and friends.
She met and married Joseph in 1956, both were in pharmacy school at API (Auburn University). She graduated in 1956 and worked at Toomer’s Drug while Joe finished school. She enjoyed practicing pharmacy for over 50 years. Most of that time, she worked beside her husband at the pharmacy they owned together, Perry Hill Drug in Montgomery, Al. Betty was devoted to her church family, First Christian Church Montgomery where she taught Sunday school and Chi Rho for 50 years. She thoroughly enjoyed singing in the choir, always singing with a smile on her face. Betty loved her Lord, her family and friends completely. She loved sending cards to everyone she loved for any and all occasions. She loved a long walk on the beach…there is no doubt that she walks Heaven’s beach today with Joe, Lori and the child she miscarried in the late 1950’s. No more pain, no confusion…just pure happiness with her Lord and family. “Well done, good and faithful servant”.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Terry McLain (Tim) and her grandchildren who knew her as “Bubba”, Leah Henn Joelson (Trevor), Rachel McLain (fiancé Chris Boykin), Alex Henn and Caroline McLain. She leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces and nephews along with a multitude of friends.
Services for Betty will be Saturday, October 26, 2019 at Leak Memory Chapel at 12:00 pm with a visitation one hour prior. There will be a private family burial.
No flowers, please. Donations may be made to Village Christian Church, Auburn, Al., where Betty was a charter member, Hospice angels of Compassus, Auburn, Al., or the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
