

Our beloved NaNa, Betty Jane (Andrews) Wendling, age 88, entered Heaven and into her heavenly Father’s arms on Monday, December 6, 2021, passing peacefully in her sleep. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 20, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Frazer United Methodist Church with Senior Pastor Chris Montgomery officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors one hour prior to the service in the Parlor at the church.
Betty was born in Ozark, Alabama on July 12, 1933 to Porter and Annie Myrl Andrews. After graduation from Dale County High School in 1951, she worked at the Bank of Ozark beginning a long time career in the banking industry. Shortly thereafter, she met the love of her life, Jerry Alan Wendling of Dover, Ohio. The two were married on May 4, 1952 and relocated to Ozark, Alabama then to Montgomery where they raised their family. After many years of parenting, Betty went to work at Union Bank & Trust - Gunter AFB and Eastdale branches as a banking teller for 20 years until her retirement. She was an active member of Frazer United Methodist Church where she participated in S.P.I.R.I.T., the Angel Tree program, and volunteered with the Prayer Ministry. She shared her love of music and playing the piano with her entire family, inspiring a musical legacy that lives on through her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. Wendling is survived by her siblings, Bobby Andrews; Kenny (Evelyn) Andrews; Faye (Bill) Blackmon; Donnie (Patty) Andrews, all of Ozark, Alabama; children, Terri Long, Jerry Wendling (Diane), Kim Russell (Scott), and Pam Dorminey (Jeff); grandchildren, Jason (Julie) Peel, Robert Chumley, Christy Long, Nicki (Tim) Tennison , April Dorminey, Jerrod (Abby) Dorminey , Erika (Steven) Denny, and Lauren Wendling; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous loved nieces, nephews, cousins and long-time friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter W. Andrews and Annie Myrl Andrews; husband, Jerry Alan Wendling; grandson David Bradley Peel; and a host of brothers and sisters.
