Billy Joe Mims

Billy was born in Chilton County, Alabama on January 11, 1944. He grew up in the Fairview Community where he attended Mt. Nebo Methodist Church. Billy graduated from Isabella High School in 1961. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army.

Billy was an active member of Pinedale Baptist Church for 50 years, serving as an Adult Sunday School teacher and Deacon. Billy worked for Holley Henley (formerly Hoyt Henley) Builders for 58 years until his retirement in 2021.

Billy is preceded in death by his parents, Harvie and Edith Mims and three sisters: Fannie Lee Rasberry, Rose Ann Williams, and Betty Carol Mims.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Theda Windham Mims; daughters Angelia Mims Bowen (Gary) and Ashley Mims Hughes (Jay); and four grandchildren Patrick Mims Bowen, Cassidy Lynn Bowen, Sean Harris Bowen, and Natalie Erin Hughes.

A friends and family visitation for Billy will be held Monday, February 24, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 11:00 AM.
