

Blanche Pope Champion, 89, stepped into Heaven Sunday January 31, 2021. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, Thomas Dunn Champion Sr.; her parents, George Wilkie Pope, Sr. and Sabra Alice Floyd; siblings, Rena Alice Pope Underwood and George Wilkie Pope, Jr. Blanche is survived by her children, Lesli Champion Riley (Tim) and Thomas Dunn Champion, Jr (Jodie); grandchildren, Allison Riley Horton (Grant), Missouri Grace Champion, Chloe Elizabeth Champion, Jackson Pope Champion; great grandson Joseph Thomas Horton. She is also survived by her siblings, Ann Pope Wood (Gene) and Dr. David H. Pope and sister in law, Terry Parker Pope and numerous nieces and nephews and special family friend John Vitollo.
Blanche was born August 30, 1931 in Luverne, Alabama. She also lived in Greenville, Al, before moving to Montgomery in the 1940’s. She lived there until 1993 when she moved to LaPine, Al. She has lived in LaPine, Al for the past 28 years. She was a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School and was their first Homecoming Queen. She was a member of the Daffodil Garden Club and was an avid gardener. Blanche was an active member of First Baptist Church in Montgomery and served her Lord boldly by sharing her faith with everyone she met. She touched the lives of many people, both strangers and friends, and treated everyone like family.
A Celebration of life service for Blanche will be Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 11:00 AM at First Baptist Church, Montgomery, Al. Burial will follow at Rocky Mount Cemetery in LaPine, Alabama.
