
She was preceded in death by her parents, Truman Brophy Wilson and Frances Thompson Wilson as well as three sisters, Mary Porter Wilson, Ella Frances Faxon, and Margaret Elizabeth Darwin.
Carol is survived by her husband, Elbert P. Estes Jr.; daughter, Laurie Ann Estes McNees (Drew); son, Allen McLean Estes (Lee Alice); grand-children, Andrew McNees, Jack Estes, Alice Estes, Thompson McNees and Sam Estes; Sister, Ann Wilson Brown (Ed); sister-in-law, Ellen Estes Horn (Walter) and several nieces and nephews.
Carol attended Lee High School and then Auburn University. After working for the State Department of Education for 5 years, Carol spent the next 17 years devoted to caring for her family and children. In 1987, Carol went to work for Senator Richard Shelby as the senior case manager in his Montgomery office, retiring in 2005. Carol then spent her remaining years dedicated to her church, Bible studies, horses and grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at First United Methodist Church beginning at 11:00AM with a memorial service to follow at 12:00PM, with Dr. Jeremy Pridgeon and Dr. Karl Stegall officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Stegall Seminary Scholarship Endowment foundation.
