

Charles Elton Lynn of Montgomery, Alabama was called home to his Lord on November 1, 2024. He was the son of Lois and Sanford Lynn, born on May 23, 1925. He is predeceased by his parents, his older brother, Bill Lynn, and his wife since 1952, Jonnie Lynn, as well as a son and daughter, Charles Lynn Jr. and Donna Jester.
Charlie Lynn is survived by two children: Terry Lynn (Lisa), Joy Duffy, nine grandchildren: Lamar and John Jester, Whitney, Tal, Tyler, Chad, and Lacy Lynn, Anna Grace and Caroline Duffy, as well as eight great-grandchildren: Allison, Tripp, Rebecca, Tripp, Ella Claire, Max, Landon, and Savannah.
Charlie attended First Baptist Church in Montgomery teaching seventh grade boys in Sunday School and volunteered with the Caring Center for over 40 years bringing bread and groceries for distribution. he also attended Lanier High School, Auburn University, and Howard College. In 1978, Charlie and Jonnie started Lynn's Letters Sign Co which is still in operation with Terry as owner.
Charlie was a World War II hero that flew 35 missions with the Eighth Air Force. Charlie loved the Lord and people. He loves all sports but was an avid Alabama fan, played golf and bridge, and enjoyed deep sea fishing, and playing in the First Baptist softball league for 40 years. Charlie said this about living his long life: "The Lord has blessed me and took me through WWII with no injuries. I flew 35 combat missions as a gunner and bombardier on B-17 flying fortress in the turret for 28 months. I live for the Cross."
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Charles' memory may be made to First Baptist Church Montgomery.
A friends and family visitation for Charles will be held Wednesday, November 6, 2024 at 1:00 PM at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home, 909 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 2:00 PM. Services will conclude with a burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
