Charles Owen Ming, Sr. of Mt. Carmel Community, passed away of natural causes Friday, June 26, 2020. He was born February 21, 1932 to Mary Byrd and Earnest Grady Ming, Sr. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1957 with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. Following that he had a lengthy career as a Registered Professional Civil Engineer for the USGS. After retirement he went to work for the Alabama Department of Transportation where he started several divisions. Charles ended his career with Hydro Engineering, a company he co-founded. He supported his children in all of their endeavors. He was a 32 degree Mason, Gideon and a former Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was preceded in death by his son Charles (Chuck) Owen Ming, Jr. Survivors include his wife of 65 years Beverly Poole Ming; children Charlotte (Chris) Tesmer and Cindy (Chad) Phillips; grandchildren Patrick (Krista) Ming; Casey Tesmer, Jeremy (Kasey) McGinty, Cody Tesmer; great grandchild Parker Ming. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 30, 2020, 1:00 pm at Leak Memory Chapel followed by a 2:00 Celebration of Life Service with burial at Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Tesmer, Chad Phillips, Patrick Ming, Casey Tesmer, Jeremy McGinty and Cody Tesmer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one’s favorite charity.
