
Clyde Brown Parkman, 84, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at his home from heart complications. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Betty Jo Parkman and his daughter Dr. Kathy Wallis. Clyde and his twin Claude were born March 9, 1928 in Columbus, Georgia. He grew up on his father’s farm on Rt. 2 in Seale, Alabama. While working most of the time, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the large barbeques that the whole county was invited to. After graduating high school and marrying the love of his life Betty Jo Burch, he worked on the family farm and joined Southern Farm Bureau Insurance Company. He then enlisted in the US Army for two years. After this he began an auto Salvage Company, Superior Auto Parts in 1959. Its two locations in Alabama, Montgomery and Hartselle grew into one of the largest used auto parts companies in the south. After retiring in 1987, he devoted his life to helping friends and neighbors with any repair job or lawn cutting he could fit into his busy days. He is survived by his son Bill Parkman of Montgomery, granddaughters: Sarah Wallis of Atlanta and Rebekah Wallis of Pensacola, FL; son-in-law Paul Wallis of Pensacola, FL; Sister: Helen Land (James); Sister-in-law: Motsie Parkman. He leaves behind too many friends and relatives to number. He will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be held at 11 am Thursday, October 4 at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Dave Huff officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 am at Leak Memory Chapel. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in his memory to McGehee Rd. Baptist Church.
