

Coleman Osborne Williams, III, 77, a longtime resident of Montgomery, died peacefully in Charlotte, NC on October 11, 2022. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine Siddens Williams and his parents, Coleman Osborne Williams, Jr., Brigadier General, USAF (Ret.) and Francis Smith Williams. He is survived by his daughter, Edie Williams Cox, and Molly Rozelle Klopfenstein, Skip (Dana) Rozelle, Amanda (Kevin) Box, and his grandchildren Carter Cox, Amelia Cox, Lauren Klopfenstein, Lindsey McGlone, John Michael Klopfenstein, Jeffrey Klopfenstein, Drake Rozelle, Seth Rozelle, Lane Warren and Ashley Warren as well as great grandchildren. Coleman who was known by many names including Buck, Bucky, “Grumps” and Dr. Williams to his many students, was born in Montgomery on May 15, 1945. He graduated from Lanier High School and earned his Bachelor’s, Masters’s and PhD from Auburn University in history. He proudly spent his career as a college history professor and served 6 years in the Alabama Air National Guard. He was a devoted and patient father, grandfather, son, husband, Auburn football fan, cat dad and lover of ice cream. There will be a public visitation Saturday, October 22, 2022, starting at 1:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service that will begin at 2:00 PM
