Delmar F. Epton

Delmar F. Epton, 77, passed away peacefully on November 16 at his home after a lengthy illness. Born August 21, 1934, he was preceded in his death by his parents and two siblings. He is survived by his wife, Nancy Pope Epton; children, Janet Weir (Mike), Sheila Helms (Ron), Michael Epton (Susan), Lisa Cox; step-children, Celeste Ryan (Spencer), Michael Rowell; and a sister, Laverne Holmes (Don). He was also a devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Delmar served in the US Army, stationed in Korea and Ft. Benning, GA, until 1957. After residing in California for 8 years he moved his family to Montgomery in 1965. He began work with First National Bank in 1966 where he worked through multiple re-organizations, acquisitions, and mergers as First National became First Alabama Bank and then Regions Bank. Delmar was an integral part of the growth and success of Regions Financial Corporation until his retirement in 1998 as Executive Vice President of Operations. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Friday, November 18 at 2:30 followed by a Memorial Service at 3:30. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements under the direction of Leak Memory Chapel, Montgomery, AL.
